AMSA's LOM are now syndicated

Beginning August, 2005 AMSA will host a RSS page allowing RSS enabled applications to subscribe to the AMSA LOM - RSS feed.

RSS feeds are typically identified with an orange rectangle with the letters XML (XML iconic button) or RSS (RSS iconic button).

To subscribe to AMSA's (or other) RSS feed, you must first have a RSS enabled application reader. Many current applications have built in support, so I guess you should first try viewing: AMSA's RSS feed.

If your browser was RSS enabled you're in luck, if not their's still some hope...

First let me tell you what RSS can do for you, then you can decide if you need it.
Basically a RSS feed allows you to subscribe to a source (URI). This feed is then monitored by your system for updates or changes. When a update is published your reader indicates a new item has been published allowing you to view a summary of this information, without having to visit the original web page. Example, my e-mail application (Mozilla Thunderbird) is RSS enabled allowing subscriptions to feeds. When AMSA LOM is published my e-mail AMSA mail box shows it's been updated. I can see the update in e-mail without even going to the AMSA web site. "I have news come to me rather than Vise-Versa". You can always do it the old fashion way and simply visit the web site/page (this page your reading), the disadvantage is you don't know if it's been updated since the last time you've visited. RSS is relatively new technology, I have no doubt it will explode in popularity. You don't have to have it, it's only a convenience - if you want it. Much of RSS popularity has come from Blogging however there are many RSS/Atom news feedds (example - The Mozillal Firefox has a free extension for reading RSS feeds named Pluck. Pluck allows you to subscribe to RSS/ATOM feeds and share your Bookmarks and Feeds over the WWW so you can access them from anywhere.

Bottom line, RSS is simply a way to allow you to subscribe to and be notified of updates as they occur. Read more and decide if you want to ride the RSS wave.

There are many methods to read and/or subscribe to a RSS/XML/ATOM feed. You will need to get a RSS Reader or view from many available online web RSS reader services. You can learn and find more RSS info from: Cnet symply RSS info page or this RSS tutorial.

Ride safe and enjoy!
