Off road motorcycling for the entire family

Link of the Month

August - LOM I bring another pointless yet amusing website. This gem (www.netdisaster.com) parses any URI and allows you to choose from several special effects to apply to any webpage (give it time to load). My favoriates are Demonstration and GUN (I put a few holes in a few random photos ;)

For fun this month check out the Longest List. I searched "Motorcycle" and learned something.

Welcome to AMSA!

Have a look around AMSA and see what catches your interest.

Monthly Meeting Location!

We meet every third Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm. We hope you can join us and learn more about AMSA and the monthly Family Day riding activities. Family Day activities are usually scheduled for the third weekend of each month following our club meeting. The locations are announced at the meeting along with the details. If you miss a AMSA club meeting you can always communicate to those members in the know through our AMSA discussion forum.
Meeting Location:
  Fuddruckers
  4024 South Lamar
  Brodie Oak Shopping Center
  Phone: 512-444-8202

So What's New?

Summer's here and the hot weather brings our summer club break. Remember during June, July, and August there will no AMSA club meetings. Watch the forum board for the most current information and news.

Looking for a place to ride with a bit a shade, consider the Sam Houston forest. Trail RIders of Houston do an excellent service for Texas dirt bikers by maintaining thousands of acres of public trail areas. However please "READ the area RULES" and abide by them or you will be fined. You will need an Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) sticker (available at TJ's Cycle and other motorcycle shops), approved Spark Arrestor, and to pay the $5 day permit fee available at the forestry "Trail Head" parking areas. For more information and maps visit TRH website and discussion forum.

Have you been watching the outdoor motorcross nationals? James Stuart is tearing it up and is undefeated to date. if you don't have TV access to the Speed channel you can aways use the Internet. Here's the televised Motocross schedule for ESPN2 and Speedvision.
SPEED Channel returns in 2008 as the official network of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship presented by FMF - SPEED's 2008 MX TV schedule.
Last and certainly not least you can listen to live racing or archived race recording at: http://live.motocross.com/live_events.html. So there you are, you not left out in the heat alone after all.

Our you sporting a 2008 AMSA club T-shirt? David Wilson and myself have worked very hard to develop a design that's sure catch everyone's eye when sporting it about.

AMSA Web Cards are here! I'm jones-ing to add your photos so send them to me, no excuses now.

I'm always adding new Blog entries so RSS Subscribe or check for updates often. You know I'm beginning to believe AMSA may have the largest collection of on-line Moto-Games on the Web (prove me wrong). So be sure to share this news with the kido's.

I invite you to check out the "AMSA 411 Blog". I have linked three categories so far:

If you have an idea for other categories or have tips/games or other suggested resources please share them. New features include the ability to post comments to posts and also Track Back. What's Track Back, you ask? Well let's just say I don't claim to know everything. I'll figure it out and perhaps post, or leave this mystery for you. I'm fairly new to Blogging and I have no intentions to make daily, or even weekly postings. I've created this so when I do find a tip worth sharing I can, right here, (rather... AMSA's 411 Blog). Who knows this could prove to be popular and I may have to setup a Moyer Blog, a Denmon Blog, and most certainly a Larry White Blog so we can hear the real grass-roots moto stories, Texas style.

AMSA Alert Subscription - You are encouraged to use the News Alert subscription form on this page (left side menu) to subscribe. AMSA News Alerts will be sent to subscribed members prior to monthly meeting and occasionally before special AMSA club activities (eg. like Family Day's). This service is intended to help remind members of AMSA club activities via e-mail. AMSA will not abuse this Mail List. AMSA will keep posting to a minimum and to the point. E-mail address's will be kept confidential and will not be sold or spammed. If you have not received a E-mail welcoming you to the AMSA Alert Mail List you are encouraged to use the subscription form to sign up.

AMSA Birthdays -- The AMSA Birthdays listing (to the left below) is alive. This feature allows members to add and display their Birth-date monthly.

I've notice a few Birthday shout-outs on the forums and thought this may be a welcome feature, I hope you agree and will add yours to the growing listing. You will have to Add Your Birthday in order for it to be listed on AMSA Home page so that it will appear the month of your birth-date. I hope you use and enjoy the E-Cards links I've collected to surprise others with friendly goodwill wishes. As time permits, I hope to improve this feature so that Birthday messages are sent from AMSA automatically. FYI, there is a surprise resource link after you submit your birth-date you should check out. This resource is pretty cool. Here it is again (The Creative Anniversary Calculator) if you missed it when you submitted your birth-date. You can discover interesting info about your birth-date you wouldn't have otherwise known.

Support your local motorcycle shops that support your sport.

Visit the Sponsors Web sites and please mention gratitude from AMSA for there support.

Last but not least... please remember to give gratitude to the AMSA Officers who volunteers and help stitch this club into the community that it is.
Give these members a pat on the back and a cold one someday and let them know you appreciate the hard work they put in to your club.

Have A Question...?

Please visit the AMSA and other discussion forums to ask questions. Fellow officers and members can answer most questions.

Ride safe and enjoy!

AMSA Photos of the Month

Changing ways... We're doing away with Pictures of the Month. Now we're simply randomly loading a photo each time this page is loaded.
If you are a AMSA member and would like your photo to randomly display here please send me your photo. Due to the layout there are a few necessary requirements that should be met. First the image should be between 500 and 700 pixels wide. The height is less important but optimum height is 378 pixels tall.

E-mail you photo's to macdillon@sbcglobal.net for inclusion in AMSA's random photo display (eg. photo at the top of this page).
